I go here every year on vacation and for the past ten years I have had nothing but good things to say. I guess all good things come to an end. They used to have one of the best grouper sandwiches anywhere and at $26, you would think it still would be, but no, very disappointed. Waitress never asked how I wanted the fish, and brought it grilled. The fillet was small, thin, and a bit dry. Prices overall were on the high side. The clam chowder is still very good. Parking is very hard to find. Pretty much a tourist trap, lots of better places on the key and in town.
There's a reason people rave about the clam chowder. If you love chowder... you'll never be able to eat it anywhere else again. Service was good. Food was good. Chowder forget about it. 😍 will be coming back. Sooner than later.
We enjoyed the food quite a bit! The proclaimed "World's Best Clam Chowder" held true; the best I've ever had, and I've had a lot. FYI, There is a separate host for inside seating and outside seating, so if the wait is long, I suggest double booking and then canceling the one that hits later. We were told 2 hours inside and an hour outside, but were seated within a half-hour inside. I believe most others are doing the same for the table to open that fast. It's a good stop, long-standing, and right on one of the most beautiful soft-sand beaches in Florida!
We went here for an early dinner one day. They had a great vibe and atmosphere and we were sat immediately. We ordered gator bites, fried shrimp, grouper and got some frozen daiquiris. The food was good, about what you expect at the beach. The service was good too. What really stood out here for me was... The bar. We went back later that night and had many more drinks. The bartender was nice and easy to talk to, the drinks were really strong(frozen daiquiris) and the atmosphere was perfect! When we bought our frozen drinks the first time, we got souvenir cups(we didn't ask for these) and they could be refilled for $10 each anytime after that. We even got refills another day and took them to the beach access, which is right across the street. They also have a late night bar that stays open until 2am, but we never made it there.
It was a very busy early-evening dinner as I expect it normally is for this popular hot spot. We were seated pretty quickly. Had we arrived a half hour later, I think the wait would have been much longer. Our order was taken right away and the food was delivered equally as fast. The fish basket was portioned just right and tasted great. The only slightly negative thing I can say is the waiter was overwhelmed with multiple tables. A drink was forgotten at the bar which came when we finally got his attention (late in the meal). The drinks was a daiquiri that could have been passed off as a virgin one because there was no taste of alcohol at all. As a good gesture, he did remove that drink from our bill without us even requesting it. He was super nice about it. None of the negative experiences would stop me from going back again and I plan to next time we're in Siesta Key.
